hot days don't affect fuel, but they do affect the motor. Increased heat = increased running temperatures of your motor = increased susceptability to pinging (pre-ignition). Running 92 octane may be necessary to prevent pinging because the savage is an air cooled single (poor cooling characteristics), but if it doesn't ping on 87 there's no reason to run 92
